Art Mad Artists to participate in Atomic Rooster's annual 'Cock Show' art contest

L-R Maggie Madden, Gerry Chamberlain and Patti Morgan displaying their work!

Stittsville Art Mad Artists at Atomic Rooster’s Cock Show

Stittsville Art Mad Artists are entering the Atomic Rooster Bar & Bistro’s annual “Cock Show” again this year.  The very fact that this downtown Ottawa Restaurant holds the exhibition and competition every year challenges participants to come up with ever new and creative ideas on the rooster theme. The Stittsville-based art group is doubling its entries – and its efforts – in a bid to win, if not a prize, at least some recognition.

Maggie Madden’s watercolour pencil piece features an imaginary rooster on an old-style delivery bike lording it over his roost of real-live hens, while Patti Morgan has explored the principles of the new art form of Zentangle in the depiction of her rooster. Gerry Chamberlain first painted an “Atomic Rooster” on canvas but was then inspired  to create a 3-D bird in fabric, plaster and wood which will be shown bursting through its chicken-wire enclosure.  A novel idea indeed!

These creative and fun works of art will be on display in the Cock Show at the Atomic Rooster Bar & Bistro from 21 September through to 26 October 2014.

The Stittsvile Art Mad Artists group, now in its third year, continues to meet weekly at the Stittsville branch of the Ottawa Public Library on Stittsville Main Street.

Summer Session begins in July

Suzanne Marsden, Gerry Chamberlain and Maggie Madden at the Art Mad Artists' booth
at the Stittsville Village Association's Art in the Park Exhibit, June 1st, 2014.
The Art Mad Artists of Stittsville enjoyed a wonderful chance to show their work during the SVA's 'Art in the Park' this year June 1st, 2014. Thanks to everyone who came out to help set up our show and take it down as well.

A special thanks to everyone who came by to talk with the artists about their work and to those who purchased original pieces and supported the group! It was wonderful getting to see so many friendly, interested people and also to welcome prospective members who were keen to join us during our painting sessions at the Stittsville Branch of the Ottawa Public Library.

We are beginning our summer session the 2nd week of July and plan to continue painting, doing watercolour pencil work and pastels together, creating original work and also supporting one another with friendly critiques.

There may be a few weeks of Plein D'air painting planned which should be exciting as well.

Our next group show will be forthcoming. Please keep an eye on the site for news. If anyone wishes to contact the group or is interested in learning more, please do not hesitate to contact us.
